Eileen M. is one of our newest members. While she is a very active person, she came to us looking to add to her lifestyle. She knew she needed that extra "push" to help her reach her goals. We are so proud of Eileen, how far she has come, and we are excited to see how far she can go! As a bonus, her husband lost 20+ pounds while she was involved in the program!

Here is what Eileen has to say:

"Having moved to the North Fork full time in 2016, I had a huge change in lifestyle! I realized quickly that I needed help with eating and exercise.  I was involved in yoga, golf, biking and walking but needed more. I wasn’t quite sure what to do next.  I really wanted to be healthy and needed help.

I came upon the Fit in 42 by chance.  There was a contest on Facebook to win a slot in (Sept 2017) Fit in 42, so I entered!   Even though I didn’t win, Chris contacted me and we agreed to meet.  Fit in 42 sounded like a program that could work for me.

Let me just say, Fit in 42 is amazing.

I was nervous to start but knew I needed help.  I thought, “it’s only 42 days – just do it!”  I summarize the weeks as ‘Fear, Pain, Learning, Intensity, Focus and Success’.  With the help of Chris, Annie and Rose I started to really understand proper nutrition and exercise.  We had a determined group of people in my Fit in 42 class.  All with similar goals and the commitment and willingness to work hard.

Chris spoke to us along the journey encouraging us to get out of our comfort zone.  He said we can all do it, and he was right! Our focus was good health, strength/fitness and clean eating. I have never felt better.  There were many highlights in the 42 days.  One was our grocery store tour of the Southold IGA. Chris and Rose were so informative and knowledgeable about the right food.  I found it incredibly helpful.

My Fit in 42 class worked hard and got the results.  The coaches are wonderful and make it a great experience. Our class started at 4:50am sharp and I looked forward to it [mostly] every day.  I was eating right, sleeping and exercising.  I lost weight, inches, body fat and increased muscle.  I gained the confidence to try anything.  My husband and I were on the Body Smart team for the Southold 5k!  I have gotten so many compliments that I look great and am excited every time.

Right after Fit in 42, I became a member.  Body Smart has a culture of collaboration and support that starts with the coaches and is shared by all the members. I have the confidence to take the classes.  I work to my ability with the idea of constant improvement in mind. I’ve been a member of Body Smart less than 2 months and my commitment is strong.  I tribute it to Fit in 42.  It was a great jump start to good health and fitness.

Honestly, if you are even just considering Fit in 42, just do it.  You deserve to be a better you.  No better investment than in yourself!  Hope to see you at Body Smart."

Great question! Fitness is often looked at as something you feel you can do on your own. Let me ask you this- if you had a massive leak in your ceiling from an upstairs bathroom but you never did any plumbing work in your life would now be the time to try? Or would you call in a professional? Same goes for fitness….

Fitness industry seems very cyclical but it doesn’t have to be. New years resolutions are about to be in abundance and gym parking lots everywhere will become full again but only for about 2 weeks. Then as we know it most don’t stick with it….why?

Because most people don’t know where to start, what to do, and/or how to do it.

Don’t just guess or “try to figure it out”. We pride ourselves in never letting you be on your own. Many gyms welcome you into their doors only to give you a room full of equipment and no direction. We teach and train and teach and train and we as coaches continue to learn from the best in the industry. (Core value- never stop learning and always educating)

When researching the gyms in your area, keep the following questions in mind:

1 Does your gym know your goals?

We want to know your “WHY”. Why is this important to you and what is it YOU want to achieve? Having goals and having a coach set up a plan to help you reach your goals is a great way to keep you accountable and on track.

2 How do they assess your starting point?

Each client during their strategy session goes through our Functional Movement Screen (FMS). This assessment allows us to see how YOU move. Do you have any red flags? Any pain or limited mobility? Following the FMS screen we can formulate a plan to allow you to move better, then feel better and finally perform better. If you’re not assessing you’re guessing!

3 What system do they use to get you to your goals/destination?

Here at BodySmart we create a roadmap to your goal. Our training plans (which update as you continue to improve) allow us to see you progress and move toward your goal. No two people are built the same, so no two programs are created the same.

4 How will they determine my improvement?

At BodySmart we use the latest in body fat measurement technology to track your progress. We use an InBody machine to test your body composition (weight, muscle mass, and body fat). By tracking in this manner, we are able to calculate your exact progress.

5 Is there a team effort feel in the gym?

All of our members are treated like family. We have a very strong community within our gym. Members love training and taking classes with other members. While there is a community feeling, there is also a little bit of competition as well! It truly sets the members up for success!

I recently visited another gym while on a weekend road trip with my family and took in the entire experience. The gym was rather large (7,000sq ft) compared to BodySmart (less than 3,000sq ft) and full of cardio equipment and machines. Everyone had their headphones on. Everyone kept to themselves. Even though they were all part of this club there was no sense of community. Something we work on everyday is the culture of our gym. As soon as you walk in, the gym is full of life- members working out, members talking with and helping each other. A place where everyone feels comfortable and successful.

6 Are their members getting RESULTS?

Absolutely-we are results driven! We run the top fat loss facility on the east end. Our members love the results they get. In addition to having your clothes fit better, and looking and feeling great, many members experience the “unseen” changes (lower cholesterol, decreasing daily medications, better bone density scans etc) With a coach by your side to hold you accountable, customized training plans and awesome classes, we guarantee you will be very successful at BodySmart.

The fitness industry has changed a lot in the last 15 years. There is more science than ever before in this field. We are on the cutting edge and at a spot to make huge impact in someone’s life. Whether it be accountability, structure, best fat loss workout or an innovative piece of equipment we have it all for you to succeed.

We know the hardest part is walking through the door. Once you enter, you have the tools necessary for you to succeed. Don’t let the leak on the ceiling become worse by trying to figure it out on your own.

Eva came to us in 2013, after relocating from NYC to Southold. She was hesitant-although she wanted to make a change, she wasn't convinced that joining a gym was right for her. After meeting a few times, and explaining that our facility is "results driven" and focused on the members, Eva became a member of BodySmart!

She has been with us through many changes in our gym-both geographically and philosophically. Eva is one of our biggest supporters and advocates, and we are so proud of her accomplishments! She pushes through whatever stands in her way.

Here's Eva's story:

"I have struggled with weight all my life and after relocating from the city to suburbia, the weight really started to be a problem. I realized I needed to do something – I needed to get healthier and stronger. Never being a “gym person”, I was hesitant but I knew I could not do this on my own. I met with Chris at BodySmart here in Southold NY- he put me at ease and explained he would work with me at my level and we would get there. Well, six months later I was off all my blood pressure medicine! I could not believe the changes I was making!

What I appreciated most was how invested Chris was in my journey and that made me step it up – I was strength training 2-3 days a week and started to take some of the classes offered at BodySmart.

BodySmart recently introduced a new program into the gym –Fit in 42. - I was interested yet intimidated. I spoke with Chris many times and he along with the other trainers Rose and Annie really encouraged me to take this next step in my fitness journey. Life changing is all I can say! I was amazed at what I could do in the gym! Fit in 42 is a 6 week program that for me not only doubled my strength - increased muscle mass - took inches off - but it changed my commitment to myself and my workouts. It provided me not only with challenging workouts, but with a full meal plan. Whole food, real food, meals that I continue to make and enjoy long after the program ended! It also provided me with the proper mindset to take on my goals.

I realized that I deserve an hour a day to invest in myself and my well-being and started working out 6 days a week even after Fit in 42 – I now confidently take all the classes offered at BodySmart - TRX, Kettle bell, MetCon, CoreRyde, and Ryde.

The feedback from family and friends is so positive. I am constantly being told “you look great/healthy/toned”. I love the way I feel and the way I look.

If you are struggling and want to make a change, take that first step. Walk in the door and meet with Chris at BodySmart personally. I guarantee you will not regret it! Chris and the team will help you reach your goals in a positive supportive atmosphere." #lifechanging #bodysmart #northfork #fitness #notjustanothergym #ifitdoesntchallengeyouitdoesntchangeyou #southold #smallgymbigresults
